AWANLE AYIBORO HAWA ALI
Born in 1997 in Nima, near Accra in Ghana, Awanle Ayiboro Hawa Ali was introduced to painting in her community and decided at the age of 22 to devote herself fully to her art, an art which beyond the studio allowed her to emancipation and defending women's rights. “The Abandoned Playground” is her first personal exhibition.
Awanle Ayiboro has already participated in numerous group exhibitions all over the world. It was thus presented in London at the auction house Phillips during a Phillips x Artemartis partnership (2022), in Dubai at Emergeast Gallery (2022), in Texas (USA) at Mitochondria Gallery (2022). This year, her work was visible in Accra at Gallery 1957 and in Los Angeles (USA) at Coates & Scarry. The artist also wishes to develop her practice in the art of performance, to reach a wider audience, and will participate at the end of the year in the residency “The Crit Lab” in Tamale, Ghana.
Her works have been included in several notable collections: Yuichi Kawasaki (Japan), Lester Marks (USA) and Artemartis (Ghana).
The artist lives and works in Accra (Ghana).
